Turnaround time for testing is competitive. Most routine tests
are completed the same day, and results are delivered the next.
Special tests are performed the next working day or batched
during the week. Referral tests may take a bit longer. Please
enquire for details.
On
request, urgent test results can be faxed or telephoned to
your office as soon as they are completed. |

PathLab
wishes to remind clients that the Hong Kong Government's Quarantine
& Prevention of Disease Ordinance requires notification
of suspected or confirmed cases of certain diseases.
NOTE: The laboratory
DOES NOT do this - this is the legal responsibility of the
doctor.
The list of notifiable diseases changes from
time to time. For current information, visit the Centre for
Health Protection's Statutory
Notifiable Disease webpage. |

To aid clinical follow-up,
serum is kept frozen for up to one month. Additional tests
may be ordered if there is sufficient sample left and if
it is suitable for testing. Other fluid specimens and slides
are saved for about one week. Please contact our staff with
any queries. In case the lab results do not seem to fit
the clinical picture, please see Repeat Testing, immediately
below.

Even with
the best instruments, methodologies and Quality Control, there
are always variations in any measurement process. These variations
can be due to sample handling (hemolysis, lipemia, etc.) and
other analytical factors, as well as natural biological variation.
We encourage doctors to phone us if there is any question
concerning the test results with respect to clinical findings.
We will be pleased to repeat the test at no charge, either
on the specimen received, or on a redrawn sample. Please notify
us soon as possible, so we may fully investigate the previous
results, as well as repeat the test. |

Blood collection is
provided as a complimentary service. It is a blind invasive
procedure with known risks. Adverse outcomes (such as hematomas),
although rare, sometimes occur. Our staff perform phlebotomy
capably and professionally. However, PathLab accepts no liability
related to this procedure. |

We are sometimes
asked by clients to reprint reports. PathLab stores test reports
for at least three years. We will be happy to reprint a report
at a doctor's request. |
