| This is a qualitative screening test for barbiturates (BARB). They are a class of drugs commonly used therapeutically as sedatives, hypnotics, and anticonvulsants. Short acting BARB may be detected in the urine for a few days, whereas long acting BARB may remain detectable from 1 to 3 weeks after last use. If clinically indicated, positive results may be confirmed with GC/MS or LC/MS procedures. Results should be interpreted with care and correlated with accurate patient history. This report is not intended for any medico-legal processes. |
