1. The antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) complies with the Clinical & Laboratory Standards Institute's current recommendations for AST (CLSI M100-S20 Vol 30 No 1). Selective antibiotic agent groups are reported with each organism. Group A, first line or routine agents, marked with "1", and Group B, second line, for selective use only, marked with "2". Agents not in categories 1 or 2, may be used at doctors' discretion.
2. A chemical test for MRS, the Cefoxitin screen, is included for all Staphylococcus species. For positive MRSA, follow-up PCR gene testing can be performed at HKDH at no additional cost, if needed please fax your consent to 2529 6082 on the same day.
