2. The ESC guidelines recommend 125 pg/mL as single (age-independent) cut-off for exclusion of suspected heart failure in patients with non acute onset. In the same clinical setting, age-stratified decision limits (125 pg/mL for patients < 75 years old and 450 pg/mL for patients ≧ 75 years old) have been advocated to improve the loss of specificity in the elderly. |
3. NT-proBNP concentrations must be interpreted in conjunction with the patient's previous history, physical examination or any other clinical data (e.g. medical imagery, analysis). |
