Reference Notes and Guidelines
1. T-Uptake test is a measurement of thyroid binding capacity (TBC). Values are expressed as dimensionless units with a value of 1.0 representing a normal TBC.
2. T-Uptake should be used in conjuction with the Total T4 test to yield the FT4I. Conditions that increase T-Uptake values include pregnancy, elevated estogren and some fertility drugs. Decreased T-Uptake values include heparin, dilantin, salicylates, and malnutrition.
3. Flagging is based on euthyroid ranges only.
