Reference Notes and Guidelines
This is a qualitative screening test for benzodiazepines (BZO). This test detects the presence of the metabolites of numerous benzodiazepine drugs, which are commonly used for the symptomatic treatment of anxiety and sleep disorders. These drugs are commonly abused. If used within the therapeutic dose BZO may be detected in the urine up to 3 days or more, and from 4-6 weeks if with extended dosages or chronic use (1 or more years). If clinically indicated, positive results may be confirmed with GC/MS or LC/MS procedures. Results should be interpreted with care and correlated with accurate patient history. This report is not intended for any medico legal processes.
